Jebediah at Traralgon
18 August 2011. Inferno, Traralgon, Victoria.
Cola Wars were the support band. Despite having a local connection they didn’t exactly pull a big crowd. They sounded terrible. I entertained myself by trying to guess how many mirror balls were on the ceiling.
Then Jebediah started. Although the gig was part of the official Kosciuszko album tour they still played plenty of the older...
Osaka Aquarium Kaiyukan
21 September 2011. Osaka, Japan.
I feel like giving this blog entry a cheesy title...
I hate the phrases “new beginnings”, “new start”, “life starts again NOW”, etc. I don’t think you can ever leave the past behind. It will always be part of you and will shape how you behave in the future. But there are a few new and good things happening in my life right now that makes me feel like there is a change happening for good. I even feel tempted...

Heading home...
I came to Japan with 10kg, I’m leaving with 19kg. That’s a lot of sake, sneakers, pocky and clothing from Uni Qlo.
I had a great time in Japan and I wish I wasn’t going home. I stayed at dads place in Kobe the whole time and it was nice and relaxing. Highlights included going to the baseball, Osaka aquarium, Kishiwada Danjiri Matsuri festival, Fushimi Inari shrine at Kyoto,...

Apparently there was a typhoon today. Think it must of happened while I was...
Japanese mosquitoes love me. I don’t love Japanese mosquitoes.
In Japan, I’m a size medium in clothes. I feel so normal.

Foam in MBR odour ductwork at GWF
Here are two videos that I took of the foam in the odour ductwork on the industrial membrane bioreactor at Gippsland Water Factory. It’s incredible to see how high up the foam gets in the ductwork and how even with the water sprays on, the foam is still noticeable. First video is of the water sprays in the ductwork off, second with water sprays on.

Voda-Fail... the end is near...
Vodafone called me today to try to get me to sign up to stay with them longer and to let me know their new “deals”.
Vodafone call centre person: “Looking at your usage, you don’t seem to use your phone much”
My reply: “Yeah, my phone doesn’t really work where I live and work so it’s pretty useless, actually I’ve been meaning to call to see...

Bosnia & Herzegovina - The road less travelled
Back in September 2006 I was travelling around Europe without a plan and was simply making things up as I went along. I was in Dubrovnik, Croatia when I decided to check out Bosnia & Herzegovina. It turned out to be the best decision I made of the trip. Here is a recap of my trip with quotes from my travel journal and photos.
“I don’t really know what to expect. Evidence of war? My Lonely...

When you live alone there is no one to bring you...
Last Friday I slipped down the stairs at Central station and sprained my ankle. Of course I didn’t know that at the time, in fact it didn’t even really hurt. [Yes I’d had some post work drinkies, stop judging me!]. On Saturday I woke up, and with the alcohol worn off, I realised I had done some serious damage to my ankle and I was in pain.
Off I went to the doctors.
Note to self: Next time...

Turning 30 (not quite)
In the last few weeks I’ve attended quite a few 30th birthday parties. Not really surprising considering I will be 30 in less than 5 months. What did surprise me was how much of a big deal some people make for their 30ths. Hiring out pubs in the city, getting dressed up in formal attire, sit down dinners with name tags. Formal invitations and thank you cards. It’s like 21st birthday parties all...

Peabody at Petersham Bowlo
Bowlo Thursdays – 24 June 2010 – Peabody + Dead Farmers
For the first time in a long time I found myself in Sydney on for some mid week hangouts. So I headed down to Petersham Bowling Club to see Peabody and Dead Farmers play. Yep a bowling club, that’s over 100 years old. Really great venue. I ate one of the best home cooked meals I’ve had in a long time and enjoyed some great bands.
